What is Steam Beech Wood?
The beech tree is native to North America, Europe, and Asia. Various species of beech trees, such as the Japanese beech, American beech, and European beech, are remarkably similar and can reach heights of 100 to 130 feet (30–40 meters).
Beech hardwood is categorized as "hard-wearing" wood due to its non-porous nature, solid density, and robust surface. This makes it more resistant to pressure, chipping, and gouging compared to some other types of wood. The sapwood has a pale yellow tone, while the heartwood is reddish-white, turning red-brown after being treated with steam. Beech wood is commonly used in the production of veneer plywood, railroad ties, flooring, and furniture. Although beech is highly durable and hard, it is not well-suited for long-term outdoor use due to its poor resistance to moisture fluctuations.
