What is Planet Thermo wood
Thermo wood has gained significant popularity as a building material, particularly for exterior cladding, due to its affordability, environmental friendliness, and durability. Through a process involving heat, steam, and pressure, thermo pine wood is created from thermally modified wood, using specialized drying chambers with temperatures ranging from 160°C to 215°C. Thermo treated pine wood is lauded for its non-toxic, recyclable, and natural properties, achieved through an entirely ecological thermal treatment process.
Notably, the heat treatment procedure eschews the use of chemicals, resulting in no hazardous waste at the end of its lifespan. With a moisture content of approximately 6-8% (+/-), thermo pine wood exhibits outstanding dimensional stability, enhancing paint performance. The color of Thermo pine wood can vary depending on the length and degree of thermal treatment.
Thermo wood is designed to withstand the elements without requiring surface treatment, promising longevity. However, if left untreated, the cladding may gradually lose its color and develop a silver-gray patina over time. While some opt to stain it for aesthetic reasons, untreated thermo pine wood cladding can last 30 to 40 years, and if coated according to the manufacturer's guidelines, it may endure up to 50 years.
