What is Cherry Wood?
Cherry, a smooth-grained, reddish-brown hardwood from the American Black Cherry fruit tree, is our top-selling product. Known for its rich color and graceful aging process, cherry wood is highly prized among furniture connoisseurs, exotic wood suppliers in India, and woodworkers.
The heartwood of cherry ranges from deep red to reddish brown, darkening as it ages and is exposed to light, while the sapwood is a creamy white. This wood has a straight grain with a fine, consistent, satiny, and smooth texture, often featuring small gum pockets and brown pith flakes. Unlike many other types of wood, cherry wood is less commonly harvested by exotic wood suppliers in India, making it somewhat rare. It is also more affordable than walnut and easier to work with than maple or oak. Cherry is one of the most versatile woods, with physical properties that lend themselves to a wide range of applications.
Workability
Cherry makes for a great, smooth finish after being sanded and stained. It is also easy to machine, nail, and glue well, according to wood suppliers in India. After kiln drying, it shrinks slightly and dries pretty quickly, but it retains its dimensions well.
